Connect a monitor to a laptop?
Okay, so here's the deal. The screen of my laptop broke. It burned or something. Therefore, I was told that you can connect a monitor to my laptop. I tried that today, only when turning the monitor, all I see is my pink background. No icons, no start bar, nothing! How I can get everything you see on my monitor? Detailed directions would be greatly appreciated. I'm a college student and can not go much longer without a screen to see the roles I have to write, I am able to see the screen of my laptop … barely, but if you shine a lamp her desk, I can see very well. So how I can enable the line to lead the new monitor??
Sounds like the backlight on the computer laptop has disappeared. You would have to place the panel on the laptop. Expensive if you are out of warranty. What happens is that switching on the laptop with the monitor connected Windows is seeing it and display laptop and running in extended mode. So the external monitor is showing half of a split screen at all laptop screen and monitor screen. If you could actually see anything on the laptop that could drag through the outer and work at it, but you can not see it. What I would do is start the laptop without the external display connected and wait for Windows to finish booting. Then connect the external display and use the key combination Fn-Fx to switch between viewing options (interior only / solo External / External + Internal) key combination varies among manufacturers. HP is Fn + F4 Lenovo / IBM Fn + F8. . . Look across the keys of F must have icons there to help determine the Fn key combos do. Good luck.
